Ben’s Marathon Mission

For those who haven’t heard, Ben is running the London Marathon this year!

Ben hasn't ever run anywhere near a marathon distance before, but is hugely motivated by the amazing berth holders at Haslar Marina, Fiona and Richard Smith, who set up the charity Sullivan’s Heroes, in the name of their late son. They work tirelessly to bring funds together and every penny goes towards helping parents with disabled children adapt their homes so they can all continue to live together as a family under one roof. You can see some of their latest stories by visiting

Ben is well underway with his gruelling training schedule for the 26-mile marathon on the 26th April 2020, to generously raise funds and awareness for Sullivan’s Heroes.

When asked how his training is going, he reflected, “The loading is being put on all the time and I am finding it tough going as the weeks go by; I am now running four times a week, with my mileage now up to 12 miles on a weekend run – almost half of the marathon distance so far!”

As ever, Ben’s outlook is positive and he is incredibly motivated by the work of the charity as well as the huge generosity he has seen from everybody at the marina, with team Alex Thomson Racing amongst the very generous supporters.
