Julia’s House receive £1105 from Weymouth Marina

Tuesday 14th September - 11.30 am

The bertholders at Dean & Reddyhoff’s marina in Weymouth enjoyed a fine hog roast with live band when the marina staff put on their annual party last June.  Over 200 berth holders came along and brought enough guests to raise £1105 for a local charity – Julia's House.

Alistair Clarke, marina manager at Weymouth, has selected ‘Julia’s House’ as the recipient this year.  Julia’s House is the only hospice in Dorset dedicated to looking after children with life limiting conditions; these children are unlikely to survive beyond their late teens.

The cheque was presented to John Day, a dedicated volunteer for Julia’s House at this years SPS Southampton Boat Show. The money will go towards their ‘pyjama appeal’ to improve night time care at the Hospice.

Weymouth YOBS (Youth On Boats)

9th June 2010

YOBS_rib.jpgFriday the 28th May, Richard and Mary Reddyhoff joined the YOBs (Youths on Boats) to name their new safety boat.  Dean and Reddyhoff Marinas donated the money from the proceeds of last year's Weymouth & Portland Marinas Bertholders party to the YOBs so they could buy the boat and trailer. They can now get more youngsters on the water with this extra safety cover. Mary named the boat "Michelle" because she was impressed with the amount of time Michelle Samways puts in to helping with the YOBs. Michelle runs the safety cover for the YOBs and also looks after the RIB at Dean and Reddyhoff's Portland Marina amongst other duties. Mary told the youngsters she hoped they appreciated the time that the YOB helpers give up to make sure they get to go sailing. In winning the event, Jim Hunt has become the first ever British sailor to lift the title in its 40 year history, and has done so in one of the deepest fields of talent ever present at a World Championship.

Cadet Nationals 2003

In August 2003, Dean and Reddyhoff sponsored the Cadet Nationals held in Weymouth, and with 130 competing boats and some help from the Red Arrows, the event was a huge success.  Cadet nationals website

Weymouth Rowing Club

Weymouth_Rowing_Club.jpgWeymouth Rowing Club is a phoenix risen out of the ashes of a tragedy.  They are now a charity, and amongst their charitable aims are committed to provide a facility where people can partake in a healthy outdoor activity, no matter their circumstances or abilities. They have built four gigs, a harbour side boatshed, a flash boat, and a very fine safety boat.  Dean & Reddyhoff are delighted to assist Weymouth Rowing Club with a berth for their safety boat, which forms a vital service to their organisation.
