In early times, occasional beacons and fires were lit on the hill above Portland Bill, and subsequent lighthouses had coal fires in the tops, but these were not very effective. An early Trinity House lighthouse was the first lighthouse in the world to use magnifying lenses, and the beam was visible from the horizon.

Portland Marina is situated at the South West corner of Portland Harbour. Please enter the harbour via the Northern entrance then follow the fairway buoys to the marina entrance. Please call the marina on VHF Channel 80 / tel 08454 30 2012

 

All short term berths now include a free electricity connection and supply (up to 4 consecutive nights, up to 19.9 m LOA). We always have space so no need to book.

 

All short term visitor berths include all Portland Port fees.
