factoid.pngInteresting fact...

If you are approaching us on the A 31, just before Bere Regis you will come across a direction sign which is painted red. This sign was a marker for illiterate guards who had to escort prisoners on foot from Dorchester to Portsmouth, whereupon the prisoners were deported to Botany Bay in Australia. This post marked an overnight camp in Botany Bay Farm.

After 2012, you may care to see the next Olympics in Rio. On leaving Osprey Quay, turn left into Portland, keep going up the hill to the top where there is a roundabout; bear left here which will take you into Brazil, then cut through the trees and cross a river and after a few days you should pick up direction signs to Rio De Janiero.
