Portland Marina - Dean & Reddyhoff's First Gold Anchor Marina

The Yacht Harbour Association is delighted to announce that Dean & Reddyhoff's Portland Marina is the first to be assessed under the newly relaunched Gold Anchor Award Scheme and scored 5 Gold Anchors. The assessment process includes a mystery shop, berth holders survey and an audit against 148 different criteria offering an impartial review of the service and facilities available.

Portland Marina is the UK's newest marina and a great addition to the UK's marina scene. This is a good example of a well thought out complex with excellent facilities for boaters and the onsite restaurant 'The Boat That Rocks', is an excellent place to socialise over a drink or dinner.

Staff are all courteous and helpful, and in the words of the Gold Anchor assessor 'exemplary'. They have a fun website, which contains all the information a customer needs and the marina office offers further information on the local area and the marina.

Portland Marina will have 560 annual berths, plus visitor berths and is accessible at all states of the tide. With excellent sailing waters, this marina truly does deserve its Five Gold Anchors and its reputation as being one of the UK's best marinas.

Russ Levett, Portland Marina's Manager says , "Ever since the conception of Portland Marina, Dean & Reddyhoff Ltd have strived to provide a first rate facility, with uncompromising attention to the details that really matter to our customers and future customers' needs. We are proud to have achieved TYHA's standard of Five Gold Anchors, and are especially pleased to have been the first to achieve this within the new stringent assessment criteria. We will fly our flags with pride!"

The Gold Anchor Award Scheme, which has been operating for 23 years is based on the TYHA Code of Practice for the design construction and operation of marinas. 102 marinas participate in the scheme with ratings ranging from one to five gold anchors. Any award issued is a sure sign of a credible, quality marina with the number of anchors demonstrating the facilities and standard of service available to berth holders and full compliance with statutory regulations.
