London 2012
As an integral part of the lease we have for the Osprey Quay site from two Government Agencies, we have pledged to support the 2012 Sailing Games in a fairly big way – we had certain construction deadlines to meet (which we have surpassed), and in 2012 we have to vacate our marina site for the event. This will inevitably be disruptive, but nonetheless very interesting and rewarding.
Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) is run as a charity, and over the years we have helped them with a couple of boats etc, but the big help is when we built the marina, they were able to tuck in behind our new stone breakwater, with their old moored pontoons reconfigured with piled moorings, services, etc. A nice cosy little set-up for them now, almost good enough for an Olympic event!
Steve White - Round The World Yachtsman

Steve, currently ranked as one of the world’s top 10 sailors, completed the world's toughest solo ocean race, finishing 8th out of 30 competitors.
Steve proved himself not only a talented solo ocean racer competing alongside the top professional names in the sport, but also an excellent, colourful and good humoured communicator. Steve's hard-wired desire to reach his goal and not to take no for an answer is the most inspirational facet of a remarkable character. Have a look at his website here.
The Great British Rib Rally
The Great British Rib Rally 2009 started and finished at The Boat That Rocks at Portland Marina. The Idea of this race was to circumnavigate the Britich Isles and Ireland, not nessecarily fastest, but with the best efficiency overall. For this "Non" race, each entrant was raising funds for a local hospice. A great cause and a great event.
Weldmar Hospice

In 2010, the proceeds from our Berth Holder party were donated to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust. Weldmar is entirely funded by donations and has provided support for many people in the local area. Caroline Nickinson, Director of Fundraising gratefully received a cheque from Portland Marina on our stand at the Southampton Boat show. Information about this worthy cause can be found here.
Portland Gig Rowing Club

In 2009, Portland Marina was awarded the Crown Estates Marine Business Award. The award came with grant of £5000. Portland Marina donated the grant to Portland Gig Rowing Club, which had recently formed to enable all local people and children to enjoy the popular sport. The money has enabled them to fund the purchase of a new rowing gig. Dave Ferris, Chairman of the club was among members who accepted a cheque at the Southampton Boat Show.
Portland Comunity Partnership
The Portland Community Partnership (PCP) is a group of local people who fund local projects and regeneration on Portland. Dean & Reddyhoff have always been keen to assist with fundraising for their projects, including donations for raffles, attending fundraising dinners and even a donation to the rebuilding of the local skate park. Info on their good works and projects can be found here.
Keith Harris - Paralympian

Keith Harris, has been disabled since he was six months old when he contracted a virulent strain of flu. He discovered freedom on the water, has received a boost to his quest for Paralympic glory with the help of Portland Marina and Quality Time Training.
National Coastwatch - Portland Bill

National Coastwatch Institution at Portland Bill is a service wholly staffed by volunteers and entirely funded by donations and fundraising.
The fine men and women of the coastwatch offer an invaluable service, keeping watch over Portland Bill and logging boating movements to assist safe passage of vessels on a day to day basis.
We were very happy to choose NCI Portland Bill as one of our recipients for donations collected from the annual bertholder Party. Representatives joined us at the Southampton Boat Show to receive £800.
If you would like more information on the wonderful work of the NCI Portland Bill, please look at their website here. Or call them on 01305 860178
Sail 4 Cancer

Another benefactee of our Bertholder Party 2011 was Kay Stibbs and her fundraising efforts for Sail 4 Cancer. this charity aims to provide a vehicle for both fund raising and the convalesence of cancer sufferers.
Kay and her intrepid crew aboard Draig O' Mor spent the summer preparing for the 2011 Fastnet race. All in aid of this wonderful charity. We were delighted to be able to donate £800 to the cause, final totals are still being calculated, and we will report as soon as we have it.
More info on this very worthy charity and fantastic acheivement by Kay and all the crew of "Draigy" can be found on their web site here.
