Weymouth and Portland Marina Bertholders support YOBs

Dean and Reddyhoff Marinas have nominated the Weymouth Sailing Club YOBs (Youth On Board) to be the recipients of the funds raised from their annual Weymouth & Portland Marinas Berth Holders Party to help buy the extra safety boat needed to get more youngsters on the water. YOBs hope to purchase a similar boat to the 'Jaffas' the Laser School currently use. The amount raised was £1,690 which will go a long way to getting the new boat. The cheque was presented to Daphne at the Southampton Boat Show on Saturday 19th September by John Heppell, the Assistant Manager at Portland Marina.

East Cowes Bertholders raise money for Kids Out charity

East Cowes Marina bertholders have raised £1296, through their annual party, which has been donated to the KIDSOUT Charity, providing fun and happiness to disadvantaged children throughout the UK. Part of this money was raised from ticket sales, and part through sponsorship of Assistant Manager Tara Perris and husband Stewart McDonald's "Italian Job" Mini Adventure. Many of the children Kidsout helps have physical, social, health or learning disabilities while others face less obvious challenges, such as turbulent or financial deprived backgrounds. For the annual Rotary Kidsout Day Out more than 27000 children are taken out for a day of fun and laughter at over 100 venues all over the country. The mission of the fun and happiness charity is to transform the lives of disadvantages children by providing fun opportunities and positive experiences that work to significantly enhance their wellbeing and outlook for a happier future.

Haslar Berth Holders raise money for GAFIRS

Haslar Marina Berth Holders raised £1,590.00 for the Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service at their Annual Berth Holder Party on the 22nd August 2009. The evening was a great success with 300 Berth Holders enjoying a hog roast, jazz band and complimentary bar. GAFIRS is a local charity, whose volunteers are constantly busy keeping the Solent safer.

Elandess visits Haslar Marina

Monday 24th August 2009

"Elandess", a brand new motoryacht, stayed at Haslar Marina overnight on the 23rd August 2009, whilst on route from the Netherlands to Gibraltar. At an overall length of 60 metres and a displacement of just over 1,000 tonnes, she now holds the record for the largest vessel ever to have stayed at Haslar Marina.
