East Cowes Marina

Mike Townshend

Marina Manager

Descended from Cornish royalty, and known for his collection of sheds, ‘Two-Sheds’ is genius when faced with unexpected visiting yachts – lots of them! You can’t go racing on a Tuesday evening without bumping into him, and he has sailed Round the Island so many times it makes him a bit dizzy.

Tara Perris

Assistant Marina Manager

'Wowzer' Perris has sailing credentials to put Ellen MacArthur to shame! Tara keeps everything shipshape in the marina, and the rest of the staff under the lash! As part of her role as Assistant Manager, and whilst not busy covering up for the Manager, Tara is in charge of berth allocations...But don’t ask her for a lift in her prize Mini – you might just end up in Italy (like in 'The Italian Job')...

Sue HobdayHar_har_Sue_lad_sml.JPG

Office Administrator

Hobbers, once renowned as the 'Steel Trap' for her photographic memory of all bertholders, past and present, now reserves the dark recesses of her mind for 'the defaulters'! Unlike the marina manager her time spent in overpriced educational establishments resulted in a refined sensibility and highly developed spelling ability, which means that it is now just about possible to understand a letter from the Marina Manager.

Chris ReadChris_Smiling_Asassin_sm.jpg

Berthing Master

Musky, also variously known as 'The Whirlwind', and 'Heart-Attack', Chris' role is to hold the fabric of the marina together. He achieves this with a mix of resigned fatalism, wild enthusiasm and dogged determination. Whilst at play he can be spotted hurtling across Sandown Bay in a Dart 15, before retiring to the dubious pleasures of Ventnor.

Ian "The Rock" MackettIan_on_Horseback_sm.jpg

Berthing Master

Weekend legend and all-round Mr Fix-It, Ian is the Palm Fringed Island in the turbulent sea of our casual staff. Student employees may come and go, but Ian is always there to whip them into line, with a sharp wit and the perfect Island saying.

Kev_in_Hat_sm.JPGKevin Richardson

Berthing Master

'Goatboater Kev' is the newest, shiniest (well his head is anyway) member of the team and takes care of our in house training, including First Aid, Manual Handling and Workboat driving. As a member of the RNLI Cowes Inshore Lifeboat crew,he is well qualified to keep the team up to the mark, and as our H&S man, no doubt he will!
